(HBUCM News) — On September 17, a high-level delegation from the Russian Federal Health Alliance visited Hubei University of Chinese Medicine (HBUCM) to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation in traditional medicine.
The delegation was led by Nikolay Kononov, Vice Chairman of the Russian Federal Health Alliance, accompanied by Daniil Antukhov, General Manager of the Alliance's Foundation, and Huang Guorong, President of the Russian Association of Traditional Oriental Medicine Specialists.
They were warmly received by Liu Songlin, Secretary of the University’s Party Committee, and Wang Yanchun, Vice President of HBUCM. Heads of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation also participated in the meeting.

On behalf of the university, Secretary Liu extended a warm welcome to Vice Chairman Kononov and his delegation. He provided an overview of HBUCM’s recent groundbreaking achievements in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) talent cultivation, scientific research, and international engagement.
Liu highlighted Hubei Province as a significant cradle of TCM culture, boasting rich natural and historical resources. He emphasized the university’s commitment to promoting the global dissemination of TCM and actively advancing cooperative exchanges with “Belt and Road” partner countries, including Russia. He expressed hope that both sides would leverage their distinctive strengths to foster mutual learning and contribute to building a global community of health for all.
Mr. Kononov expressed sincere gratitude for the hospitality and introduced the mission and key activities of the Russian Federal Health Alliance.
He stated that the visit aims to establish a long-term mechanism for cooperation in TCM healthcare with HBUCM. His goal is to integrate the wisdom of TCM into the Russian healthcare system, thereby enhancing the health and well-being of the Russian people.
The Russian Association of Traditional Oriental Medicine Specialists, the first professional body in Russia dedicated to TCM research and promotion, has been a long-standing partner of HBUCM.
Recent collaborations have been particularly fruitful. From September 14 to 27, the Association organized a cohort of professionals from Russia and Germany to attend a specialized TCM training program hosted by HBUCM's College of International Education. Following this, from September 19 to 21, the university and the Association co-organized the Sino-Russian International Academic Exchange Conference on TCM.
President Huang expressed his strong desire to further strengthen this partnership, aiming to expand the scale and international influence of both the short-term study programs and the academic conferences.
During the meeting, both parties reached a consensus on future initiatives. HBUCM pledged to deepen cooperation with Russia in healthcare and education. The university plans to actively develop short-term training programs featuring "Jing-Chu" (Hubei) characteristics—focusing on unique regional TCM knowledge and diagnostic techniques—and to host high-level international conferences, thereby promoting the high-quality development of the TCM industry in both nations.
