(HBUCM News) — Hubei University of Chinese Medicine (HBUCM) and the Hubei Shizhen Laboratory achieved significant recognition at the 2025 Hubei Science and Technology Awards, securing one First Prize, one Second Prize, and one Third Prize. The winners were announced during the Hubei Science and Technology Innovation Conference held in Wuhan on the morning of January 4, 2026.

Leading the university’s achievements, the project “Research, Development, and Application of Key Technologies for Quality Improvement and Efficiency Enhancement of Hubei’s Bulk Geo-Authentic Medicinals,” spearheaded by Professor Liu Dahui, was awarded the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. Professor Liu accepted the award on stage as a representative of the distinguished honorees.

In addition to the top honor, Professor Cao Jigang’s project, “Innovation and Application of Key Technologies for the Treatment of Oligoasthenospermia under the Guidance of the TCM ‘Kidney-Liver Correlation’ Theory,” received the Second Prize. Meanwhile, the Third Prize was awarded to Professor Tan Zihu’s project regarding innovative research and clinical system construction for dementia treatment via spleen-invigorating, kidney-tonifying, phlegm-resolving, and stasis-removing methods. This latest achievement marks the sixth time HBUCM has won a First Prize in the Hubei Science and Technology Awards.
