Hubei Shizhen Laboratory operates under the authority of the Hubei Provincial People’s Government. Professional affairs are administered by the Hubei Provincial Health Commission and the Hubei Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with comprehensive administrative oversight provided by the Hubei Provincial Department of Science and Technology. Established with the support of the Wuhan Municipal People’s Government, the laboratory is led and operated by Hubei University of Chinese Medicine.

The Engineering Research Center of TCM Protection Technology and New Product Development for the Elderly Brain Health, Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as the “Center”) at Hubei University of Chinese Medicine was approved for establishment in September 2022. The Center is directed by Professor Wang Ping, one of the first recipients of the national “Qihuang Scholar” title. As the university’s first Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center, this represents a significant breakthrough in high-level scientific research and innovation platforms, providing robust support for the university’s high-quality development.

Established in 2001 with the approval of the Department of Science and Technology and Department of Education of Hubei Province, the Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicine Resources and Chemistry is one of the province’s earliest accredited key laboratories. It successfully passed its provincial evaluation in 2025.
